Enjoy the December Edition of the Kolibri Games Newsletter. This is where we review the events of the past weeks and keep you updated on recent company and product milestones.

Company Milestones 

December was an exciting month for us! We officially launched our newest title, Idle Restaurant Tycoon. We had soft-launched the game on Google Play in several countries since October and had gathered overwhelmingly positive reviews from thousands of players, so we were excited to finally share it with the rest of the world. We’re beyond proud of this game – we developed it fully remotely, from first prototype to soft-launch. With Idle Restaurant Tycoon, we committed to a completely new look, a 3D isometric art style. All of our developers, artists, game designers and testers went out of their way to adapt to this challenge and create a game that both new and old players will love.

In addition, we made first place in this year’s Deloitte Technology Fast50. Our growth rate of 12,310.45% over the past four fiscal years put us at the top of Germany’s fastest-growing tech companies, and alongside previous winners like Goodgame Studios or InStaff.

We Appeared In

Our CEO Daniel spoke to Haufe New Management about Kolibri Games’ development in 2020 – the acquisition by Ubisoft, our shift to a remote work system, and how his own approach to leadership has changed over this period.

In time for the launch of our new game, the team over at Pocketgamer spoke to our Product Director Gordon about the making of Idle Restaurant Tycoon – the original idea and first steps, challenges in development, and what we have learned so far.

The Kolibri Games Blog 

Over on the Kolibri Games blog, we published two posts with insights about the development of Idle Restaurant Tycoon – “From Spreadsheet to Prototype”, about how we set our teams up for the work on new games and initial phases of development and “Let’s Build a Restaurant”, about how we went from a prototype to a shippable game, and some of the art and game design choices that we made along the way.

In addition, we published our annual Year in Review video, with impressions of everything that happened at Kolibri Games in 2020!

Product Updates

This month, our Idle Miner Tycoon team worked hard on implementing a number of features and offers as a result of successful A/B tests. Also, Santa is back in Idle Miner Tycoon! Due to high demand from players, the team has implemented another lucky draw feature with Santa Super Manager as the main prize to help out in the mines.

Kolibri Games Events 

In December, we finished our Holiday gift bag drive for children at a local refugee shelter. We managed to reach our goal of 110 gift bags – a great way to channel our creativity and generate the first Holiday vibes during this busy last month of the year, and all for a good cause!

Open Positions 

This month, we are looking for a PR Editor to join our Brand Team in Berlin. The person we are looking for has a passion for writing, possesses strong communication skills, and aspires to work in PR and content creation.
