The Kolibri Games Newsletter

Hi there!Enjoy the September Edition of the Kolibri Games Newsletter. This is where we review the events of the past weeks and keep you updated on recent company and product milestones.

Company Milestones

In September, our Head of Recruitment, Marina, won an Outstanding individual Ambassador Award at the first-ever, fully virtual Women in Games Awards. We are incredibly excited and proud to see her engagement in our industry rewarded in this way.

In addition, our CEOs Janosch and Daniel were named as finalists of the 2020 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Award. Based on criteria such as sustainability, innovation, employee management and social responsibility, the two placed among the 19 entrepreneurs who will participate in the final next month.

We Appeared In

Following the opening of our new studio in Romania, Kolibri Games Bucharestour friends over at Ubisoft chatted with Head of Studio, Stefan, about his experience establishing and growing our second office, his philosophy for leading the team, future projects, and much more.

The Kolibri Games Blog

This month, we continued to shed light on the work we’ve been doing on our new games. Over on our blog, our Head of Client Engineering Jonas discussed how we overcome some of the technical challenges that simultaneously working on multiple games with multiple teams entails. He explained the benefits of code sharing and how we manage to foster a culture of collaboration between our developers, all while keeping each individual team independent.

Continuing our series on User Acquisition and player engagement, our Brand Artist Barry broke down how our players interact with what is arguably the core of Idle Miner Tycoon: the game economy.

Product Updates

Our Idle Miner Tycoon team worked hard on implementing the first feature as a result of an A/B test: the “no ads offer”. After an initial testing period, we were able to determine that our players are interested in a one-time purchase that allows them to collect perks without having to watch a rewarded video ad first. The first wave of feedback from our players to the new feature has been overwhelmingly positive – an important affirmation to us, as we’re becoming increasingly data-driven in our product decisions.

Kolibri Games Events

Leontine, one of our Product Managers on Idle Miner Tycoon, teamed up with our friends from Keyword Studios for a Webinar on how to leverage your own user base for UA by increasing your game’s virality. Check our social media channels in the coming weeks if you are interested in watching a recording of the event.

In addition, we were beyond excited to welcome the wonderful Pia Frey, Co-Founder and CCO of Opinary, for an internal remote event this month, where she shared her wisdom on company building, team culture, and much more with us.

Open Positions

This month, we are looking for a (Senior) Unity Games Developer to join our team, so if you enjoy working in a faced-paced environment on free-to-play mobile titles, or know someone who does, make sure to check out the job description on our career page.
